It's time for better business to take centre stage!
Let’s change the law and ensure that UK businesses have to prioritise people and planet as well as profit.

The Better Business Act, spearheaded by B Corp UK and supported by hundreds of UK companies like Innocent and Danone, aims for a legislative Sweet Solution - an amendment of section 172 of the Companies Act 2006 to make companies legally obligated to operate in benefit of all stakeholders ( including workers, customers, communities and the environment) all-the-while delivering profits to their shareholders. The coalition exists to transform the way we do business so that every company in the UK, big and small, can take ownership of their social and environmental impact - something we're all for!

As a B Corp, we believe that social business should be the norm, not the exception. All companies should balance purpose and profit and operate in favour of the communities they serve. There are either companies or anti-social companies. Since day 1, we've lived the B Corp mantra, so for us, the Better Business Act is a no brainer..

For us, acting responsibly in favour of a better world means addressing inequalities in cocoa head on whilst looking after our people and minimising our impact on the planet. Here’s just a few ways we do this:

1. We lead the way to show that chocolate can be made differently with our 5 sourcing principles and have made these open source through Tony’s Open Chain so any chocolate company can do the same, we’re nice like that..

2. Our 3 pillar roadmap to make all chocolate 100% slave free is closely aligned to the UN’s Sustainability Goals

3. We are crazy about chocolate and serious about people – the cocoa cooperative partners we trade with, our choco fans, our retail partners and of course Team Tony’s. You can read loads more about how we demonstrate this in our Annual Fair Report.

4. We are carbon neutral and are always seeking new ways to reduce our impact on the planet whether through packaging, carbon offsetting or reducing emissions by making our cocoa butter in Ivory Coast vs Belgium.

So, don’t be anti-social - support #BetterBusiness by following @betterbizact and demanding companies (including yours!) to sign up to the coalition. Text here
